Junior Achievement

Equipping Students with Career Skills & Financial Knowledge

Through our work with Junior Achievement we are able to foster financial education and support the next generation of great business leaders.

From a national leadership summit that lets high school students create and pitch business plans, to the development of a financial literacy curriculum for middle school students, to hands-on experience with the business community, Junior Achievement is preparing young people to succeed and we are pleased to support them in that effort.

National Leadership Summit

Each year dozens of students from around the country come to Washington, DC to compete in the Junior Achievement National Leadership Summit, which includes a Best Financial Performance Award sponsored by the ICE NYSE Foundation. Teams of students are assessed on their business performance, personal and professional development, a self-produced commercial about their product or service, a live presentation to a panel of business leaders, and their company’s performance at an Entrepreneurship Expo on Capitol Hill attended by members of Congress.

New York Business Plan Competition

Hundreds of students from schools throughout New York City, Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley area participated in a competition to identify a need in the marketplace and build a business plan around it. The competition is designed to encourage the use of entrepreneurial thinking as a solutions-driven tool for tackling business and social problems. By successfully engaging students in this kind of problem solving, planning and creativity, we can help them apply this knowledge in the real world. From SWOT Analysis to creating a logo, students receive training and guidance from corporate sector and community volunteers. Through our donation to the program we are proud to help show young people the benefits of entrepreneurship and help them to understand that with creativity solutions-driven business plans, they have the power to shape the future of our local economy and workforce.

Student Outreach in Atlanta

Following four weeks of classroom work covering financial literacy, business concepts, entrepreneurship and career readiness, students experience a one-day full-immersion experience at an on-site location designed to allow them to put what they have learned in the classroom into action. Through a grant from our foundation, we helped make that experience available for thousands of students from across Georgia.
