Join us on Thursday, September 11, at the Tokyo American Club for a market update event on U.S. equity extended trading hours.

As markets move toward round-the-clock access, extended trading hours offer international investors greater flexibility and opportunity. However, they also introduce operational complexities—such as managing corporate actions within compressed timeframes.

During the event, Jessica Froats, Head of Distribution at the NYSE (an exchange of ICE), will provide an update on the NYSE’s plans to transition to 23-hour trading, five days a week. You’ll also hear from a panel of experts discussing the opportunities and challenges of this shift, along with practical insights from Trade Works and ICE on how to navigate this evolving landscape

Rodney has benefited from a global work perspective starting his career in Canada (after completion of his undergraduate degree) then started with Toronto Dominion Bank in Ottawa, then Bank of New York in London. His long service with ICE started in London with a previously acquired ICE business, he then moved to Paris to help establish a first presence there, then Hong Kong and now resides in Singapore. Rodney has held various roles from Global Head of Partnerships to his current role as Senior Director Business Development in Asia. Rodney has a passion for innovation, market development and helping ICE expand and grow its presence in Asia.

Jessica Froats is the Head of Distribution at NYSE, overseeing sales across the equities, options and data businesses. She most recently served as the Head of NYSE Market Data. She has held various sales and product roles across the ICE organizations, including leading the Wealth Management Desktop team at ICE Data Services and data specialist roles at the ICE Exchange, covering Futures and OTC markets.

Masakatsu Saito is the President of TRADEWORKS Inc. He has held executive roles at major fintech companies including au Kabucom Securities and Minkabu Group, where he led multiple subsidiaries as CEO. With over 30 years of experience in finance and technology, he has been a driving force in online brokerage and digital innovation in Japan.

Hitoshi Harada

Co-Founder & CPO, Alpaca

Hitoshi Harada is the Co-Founder and CPO of Alpaca, a fintech API brokerage platform. He was a Database Kernal Architect at Greenplum (acquired by EMC) and began his career building data infrastructure for Japan’s top travel agencies. An open-source contributor, he’s recognized for implementing the Window Functions feature in PostgreSQL.

Marco Chung

Sales and Relationship Management Director, NYSE

He oversees sales and relationship management for equity and options trading in the Asia Pacific region, as well as market data sales globally. Earlier in his career, he worked for a few large investment banks in structured product design and sales. He then held senior positions with a leading provider of electronic trading solutions before transitioning his career to the stock exchange. Previously, he headed the Asian Markets Sales, Trading and Market Data department at the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

Francisco Izawa, CEO , Moomoo Securities Japan

Graduated from the Faculty of Law at Keio University. Since 1994, he has been involved in stock and derivative trading in the trading divisions of major foreign securities firms such as Société Générale Securities in France and the former Lehman Brothers Securities in the United States. In 2015, he moved to the online securities business. After serving as the head of marketing at SBI Securities and president of Saxo Bank Securities, he became CEO of Moomoo Securities in 2022.

Toru Ichikawa currently serves as Head of Sales at ICE Data Services Japan, providing financial data services primarily to Japanese financial institutions. He spent 13 years at a Japanese securities firm, working in equity sales and trading, and also engaged in market-making for equity derivatives products at the firm's London and Geneva offices. Subsequently, he has spent over 20 years in the financial information vendor industry, proposing various financial information solutions to the present day.

Naoya Tokushima

Naoya Tokushima is a Director of TRADEWORKS Inc. After serving as the architect of the Internet trading system "TradeAgent," which the company provides to securities firms, he took on responsibility for business operations. In supporting U.S. equity trading, he has been engaged in designing comprehensive services such as connections with overseas brokers and financial information vendors as well as system services.
