The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requires that coffee and cocoa imported into the EU are deforestation-free and lawfully produced.
In this webinar, the ICE Commodity Traceability (CoT) Service team will discuss the terms of EUDR by explaining the lawful production requirements and how the ICE CoT platform supports the collection of data and information, provides risk mitigation measures and conducts risk assessments.
The ICE CoT team, partnering with KPMG, will detail their work in creating in-country legal databases and mitigation annexes and how the ICE CoT platform facilitates the collecting, storing and validating of lawful production information. It will provide a unique insight into the ICE CoT platform and how users can support their work and continue to trade, transport, buy and sell coffee and cocoa in EU markets.

Nicko has 39 years of experience working on cocoa and other raw material value chains. He started his career in cocoa in Nigeria in the 1980’s, working directly with cocoa farmers. Nicko possesses unique expertise in developing and introducing pioneering traceable and sustainable systems in collaboration with governments in origin countries in Africa, Asia and LATAM.
Nicko established Sustainability Solutions in 2021 to support companies and institutions with developing and operationalising their sustainability strategy.
Nicko worked for Barry Callebaut as Head of Sustainability and Chairman of Cocoa Horizons Foundation establishing the Forever Chocolate strategy, having previously worked for Armajaro as Head of Sustainability and Chairman of Source Trust as well as being a founding Director of Geotraceability.
Nicko was also the Chairman of the World Cocoa Foundation for 2013/2014.
His experience is in smallholder supply chains specialising in transparency, traceability and accountability and driving impact on the ground to make transformational change. Highly experienced in supporting businesses through the complexities of sustainability from challenges related to poverty, human rights, the environment as well as the requirements for conformity to regulation and certification.

Tom Evans is a Senior Director of Legal and Compliance at ICE. He leads the legal and compliance functions at ICE Benchmark Administration (IBA), a leading provider of regulated benchmarks and other data administration services across interest rates, commodities and sustainability. Before joining IBA, Tom worked in private practice within the derivatives and structured finance departments of Sherman & Sterling LLP and Allen & Overy LLP, advising on financial regulation and complex financing and derivatives transactions across a range of asset classes.
